Big Apple Con Round Up

Well the weekend has come and gone, and with it my very first Big Apple Con.
I had a great time, and drew a TON. Here's a look at most of the commission I did there:

A slightly perturbed Hulk-

Ethereal lovers - Dr. Stephen Strange and his lady friend, Clea-

None other than Dave Stevens jet pack wielding Rocketeer-

A sprinting Green Lantern-

A rather confused Spider-man on Halloween-

A member of Batman's rogues gallery, The Mad Hatter-

DC's Teen Titan empath, Raven-

Everyone's favorite Justice League member that can talk to fish, Aquaman!

(actually, the dude who commissioned this drawing never came to pick it up! If you're reading this good sir, I'll be happy to mail this along to you)

And last is a commission of the character Mina Harker as portrayed in Alan Moore's League of Extraordinary Gentlemen-

The drawing was actually commissioned by none other than Scott Adsit of 30 Rock fame. Scott was a really nice guy, and apparently a huge comic fan. Here we are together with Mina-

So there you have it, my weekend in drawing. There's some new stuff going on with my online store as well, but I'll save that for my next post.

Cheers.

Seriously incredible job. I'm the guy who stopped by and gave you the "Frozen Dark" mini-comic.

I always liked your work but seeing it in person (the Hack/Slash and Spidey Covers) made me a fan. I'm going to have to check out your prints as well.

Dumb question, did you have a scanner there or did you photograph your sketches?

Joe, GREAT stuff! The GL and Spidey pieces are magic. Do you use a grease pencil to get the black to white effect as seen on GL's legs?

Thanks guys!

Michael - Actually these are all from my digital camera. They were big photos, so it gave me some leeway to adjust them in the computer.

Simon - No grease pencil - though I've always meant to try that out. All the rendering seen is done with dry brush.

I see scott at comic con every year, just walking around being a big geek. He is a great dude!

Nice, Joe. Adsit's sketchbook is supposed to be full of crazy-good art. He's a wicked nice dude as well.
