Green Lantern or Bust

Recently a few of my students have been doing some 3-D work for their illustration projects, and it sort of got me itching to do some sculpture myself.
As I mentioned a few posts ago, I'm working on a Green Lantern story for DC currently and while doing some pre-production work on it - I thought I might try and scratch my 'wanting to do some sculpture' itch. I decided to take a page from Paolo Rivera's book, and sculpt some mini-busts of the characters in the story. Paolo has done this extensively through his Mythos series as a means of quick reference for his pages. I always thought it was a good idea, so here's me trying my hand at it with Green Lantern/ Hal Jordan

It's not really all that refined - but then again, it's my first stab at doing anything sculptural in eight years. (Waaay back when I was a freshmen in college. Oh man...eight years? I feel old)

Looks like Bill Pullman; I like it!

What a great face! Could be Pullman, as stated above. I see also shades of Fillion, Mitchum, Lancaster, and Douglas the Elder.

I wrote a book?

Who could have possibly spurred that idea? Nice first try in eight years by the way. How big is it?

Wait a minute, Joe. Aren't you forgetting Jeff Hesser's class we took in Wintersession of junior year (with me, Paolo, and the Hubs)? You gotta find that head of Doc Brown someday, it was awesome.

Oh yeah!
I totally forgot! Shame on me for that. Jeff's class was really great - I learned a lot there. I do believe we took that class senior year though, so I guess it's been just five years then since I had last done sculpture.

As for that old Doc Brown bust, it's long since deceased. I gave it back to Jeff Hesser to recycle the clay. Sadness.

Also,

tkincher - I can definitely see that. Thanks!

Jon - Thanks, also! I was actually kinda thinking of Fillion. Paul Newman as well.
Nathan Fillion should totally play GL in the upcoming movie. I think he'd be awesome.

Who feels old now? Even my memory is going! It must've been from all those fumes from the storing those sculptures in my dorm room that year.

I should've given Jeff my clay as well. Hadn't realized we could've done that, instead of leaving them in the Congdon House basement...

I've still got my bust. He looks a little worse for wear, though.
