Was there a reasoning behind leaving off the yellow clasps(?) on his tunic?

As for the clasp.... I just have never liked that element of his costume. Never made sense to me, so I yanked it out.
I gave him a zipper down the middle on a recent attempt at a redesign.

Okay this is gonna sound crazy but the clasp in my mind isnt a big element but it along with the mask identifies which robin it is. Four clasps its Tim, more than four its Dick or Jason. But since the TT:G Robin is so anbigious who cares. Holy crap Batman I hope I dint just help spawn a wide discussion on the clasp.
